The Khopra Danda Trek is a scenic 7-day adventure in Nepal’s Annapurna region, combining peaceful forest trails, traditional mountain villages and spectacular Himalayan views. The route passes through Ghandruk, Tadapani, Dobato and Chistibung before reaching the beautiful Khopra Danda ridge at 3,660 meters.
A highlight of the trek is the panoramic mountain scenery of Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and Machhapuchhre. Trekkers can also enjoy an optional challenging excursion to the sacred Khayer Lake and experience sunrise views from Muldai Viewpoint and Poon Hill.
With its quieter trails, diverse landscapes and authentic village experiences, the Khopra Danda Trek is an excellent alternative to the busier Annapurna trekking routes.

The Khopra Danda Trek is a 7-day scenic trek through the Annapurna region, taking you from Ghandruk and Tadapani to the peaceful Khopra Danda ridge. The journey offers spectacular views of Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and Nilgiri, along with optional excursions to Khayer Lake and Muldai Viewpoint.
The trek continues through traditional mountain villages, rhododendron forests and Ghorepani before returning to Pokhara, making it a rewarding alternative to the busier Annapurna trails.
Drive from Pokhara to the beautiful Gurung village of Ghandruk and begin the trek through rhododendron and oak forests toward Tadapani. The trail gradually climbs through peaceful woodland and offers beautiful views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre, weather permitting, before reaching Tadapani for the overnight stay.

Leave the main trail and follow a quieter route through dense rhododendron and oak forests toward Dobato. The trail gradually gains elevation through remote woodland and open ridges, with increasingly impressive views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Continue through the high forest and past grazing areas before reaching Dobato, a small mountain settlement and an important overnight stop on the Khopra route.

Start early with an optional short hike to Muldai Viewpoint for spectacular sunrise views over Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri and surrounding peaks. Return to Dobato for breakfast before continuing through forests and open mountain terrain toward Bayeli Kharka and Chistibung. From Chistibung, the trail climbs steadily above the tree line toward Khopra Danda, where spectacular views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Fang and Nilgiri open up across the valley.

Start early for the challenging day excursion to the sacred Khayer Lake, located high in the alpine landscape beneath the Annapurna South range. The trail follows a remote and rugged route with dramatic mountain scenery and steep sections before reaching the lake. After spending time at Khayer Lake, retrace the same trail back to Khopra Danda for the overnight stay. The excursion is demanding and should only be undertaken when weather and trail conditions are suitable.

After breakfast, begin the long descent from Khopra Danda through alpine meadows and rhododendron forests toward Chistibung. Continue downhill through woodland and traditional mountain landscapes before reaching Swanta, a peaceful Magar village surrounded by terraced fields and forested hills.

Continue from Swanta through forests and traditional farmland, crossing the Chistibung Khola and gradually climbing toward Chitre before reaching Ghorepani. Ghorepani is a popular mountain settlement and an important stop on the Annapurna trekking routes, offering views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges and access to Poon Hill.

Wake early and hike to Poon Hill for sunrise over the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges, weather permitting. Return to Ghorepani for breakfast before descending through rhododendron forests and stone stairways toward Ulleri. From Ulleri, continue by road to Pokhara, completing the Khopra Danda Trek.
